How do I enable the HD35P to be controlled by a 24VAC source?

I have an automated home. I want to control this unit via a 24VAC signal. I have connected to terminals A3 and A4 and it does not control the unit. I have tried a suggestion on the internet to press and hold the up arrow along with the mode button for 3 to 5 seconds and it does beep after this delay  but still does not control it.  What do I need to do to enable this unit to be controlled by a 24VAC source?

Hello David,

Thank you for reaching out.

To enable 24VAC control on the HD35P, please follow these steps:

Locate the switch on the back side of the control board (please refer to the attached image for its position).

Flip this switch to the ON position.

Once the switch is set to ON, connect your 24VAC signal to terminals A3 and A4 as you have done.

After completing these steps, the unit should respond to the 24VAC control signal.
