AlorAir Lite App not connecting

Back to List

This is just information that might help anyone having similar connection issues.

The Alorair Lite app (iPhone 16 Pro Max) would not connect my AlorAir Storm Elite after doing a firmware upgrade to my router (TP-Link BE600) even though it had connected for several days before I did the upgrade. I tried everything, resinstalling the app, restarting the dehumidifier, resatrting my phone and rebooting the router.

The solution was temporarily disabling the 5 Ghz and 6 Ghz bands on my router so that only the 2.4 Ghz band was available and reconnecting the Lite app. After the app/device connected, I renabled the 5 and 6 Ghz bands in my router and the app still connects to my device. I can't explain why it worked the first time but not after the firmware upgrade as none of the router settings were changed, but if you are having trouble connecting the app try diabling the other bands temporarily.

One final update. The app takes 45 - 60 seconds to connect to my Storm Elite and report the information. I have a $20 bluetooth thermometer / humidistat sitting on top of the unit to verify the humidity levels in my basement that connects instantly from anywhere in my 3200 square foot house. Just pathetic wifi functionality of this expensive unit!

UPDATE: I was able to finally get the Alorair Lite app to connect. I had to delete the Storm Elite device from my account and start over, as well as, temporarily disable the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands on my router. This app and device connectivity needs a ton of work. For such an expensive device to not have basic stable connectivity is not acceptable. The wifi module and app need to be seriously upgraded.

UPDATE: My Storm Elite disconnected last night and I have not been able to reconnect even after turning off the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands on my router. The Alorair Lite app finds and connects to the Storm Elite in Bluetooth and says "complete" but does not update the status and no information is showing in the Home or Detail screens. I noticed that there is an exclamation mark on the Wifi symbol after setup. I have tried many times to re-add the device and it always connects to Bluetooth and says complete but does not actually connect the app to the device via wifi to get the information and the Wifi exclamation mark reappears on each setup.

Any ideas? Has the Wifi module gone bad? II hope not as I've only owned the device for about 5 weeks!

Dear Patrick Williams,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a detailed and helpful solution with the Alorair community.

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced while trying to connect your Storm Elite dehumidifier to the AlorAir Lite App, especially after a router firmware update. This is certainly not the experience we want our users to have.

We truly appreciate your proactive troubleshooting and for sharing your workaround — disabling 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands temporarily to force a 2.4 GHz connection. This is a valuable tip that will likely help many other users facing similar router-related connectivity issues, particularly with dual-band or tri-band routers.

We are taking your feedback seriously, and our technical team will review the compatibility of AlorAir Lite App with routers after firmware updates to see if further improvements can be made on our end.

Once again, thank you for your patience, understanding, and contribution to the Alorair community. If you encounter any other issues or have additional suggestions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us directly.

Sincerely,
Alorair Team
