A beast of a dehumidifier!

From the Amazon

By 'Customer Review', Reviewed on June 30, 2025
I have been using this dehumidifier in my basement to rid it of ongoing dampness, and this product has done a great job at mitigating the issue. The pump really helps because the water is pumped up and out through a drain hose. This is helpful because my basement drain is higher than the dehumidifier unit. This takes away the work of having to empty a water tank like I have done with previous dehumidifiers. The pump works reliably, and the length of the drain hose allows water to be directed away from the unit. It does a good job of keeping humidity at bay and produces a fairly quiet level of noise. It has a relatively simple design and works well, but it is still very heavy at about 50 pounds, making it a bit cumbersome to move around. Moving it from one area of the basement to another requires some effort. Overall, it works well.
GREAT!! But small excess moisture drawer

Pretty hefty machine alongside my smaller dehumidifiers. Its design is pretty much like most dehumidifiers and keeps our bathroom VERY dry, even our room which is good because we have a home that has issues with condensation and humidity from the outside. It is automatic shut off is great and you can tell it is working because my lips are so parched. We have had to turn it off a few times since we all were so dry skinned at one point. We have it draining into our tub. The hose it comes with is good, you just need a good place to put it so the water does not droop it down and it ends up coming out of your drainage area. The one thing I was a little concerned about was the small drawer for holding the excess moisture ( if you are not using the hose). You have to drain that thing out a LOT if you have a lot of moisture from the environment hitting certain areas in your home. It needs more draining than my smaller dehumidifiers, but I guess you can say it most definitely does its job. Just the drawer for moisture is SMALL. Funny considering the entire machine is HUGE. That is why I could not have this in my guest bathroom it was way too big and bulky for that. Anyways, it works great though and that was my only qualm about this machine. It is been so helpful where we live.
Easy to Set up, Many options, Works like a champ.

I had a small flood in my basement during a recent storm, and this helped dry it out. The bucket I needed to use was too tall for the gravity hose to be a lot of use, but the pump mode was exactly what I needed. It was easy to set up, and it runs very quietly. Even though I have been running it 24/7 for a couple of weeks now, it has not caused a surge in my energy usage, which I appreciate. At an MSRP of 424.99 (at time of review), it is a lot more expensive than my home-grade unit. However, that one does not have a pump, and it was not coping with the 1/2 inch of water sitting on the floor. Sometimes you need a commercial/industrial grade unit to deal with a big problem, and this definitely does a better job than your standard dehumidifier. I recommend this if you need an area dried out quickly, or you need to prevent mold in a humid location.
Well built

I live near the ocean and the water table is quite high.Just a little rain will put a layer of water in my cellar. I have gone through several dehumidifiers as I use them year round.I purchased this commercial model as an upgrade to my usual purchase. It was easy to install. The instructions are clear and if you have ever had a dehumidifier before, you should have no problem.I ran the drain hose to my cellar sump pump. They give you a long hose which I like because all of my previous dehumidifiers had short drain hoses so I had to keep the unit near the sump pump where it often got in the way.The noise level is fine for my cellar and it seems well built to last a long time.I am happy with my purchase.
For that one room in the house.

Our garage gets very humid. This has been a great purchase. Took out of the box, plugged in and started up. Came back in an hour and what a difference. Good size, does not take up room. Very quiet. Filter is easy to get to. Hoses and cord are long. Wheels for easy moving.
Well-made. Works great. Relatively quiet.

I have owned a couple of big name brand dehumidifiers, and I had never heard of the ALORAIR brand before, so I was not sure what kind of quality to expect. This ALORAIR Commercial Grade Dehumidifier arrived very well packaged to protect it from damage, which I greatly appreciate. It appears to be well-made, and to have a great build quality. I live in a 1960s home with a basement, and I have terrible humidity problems, so I have to run a dehumidifier a lot down there. Setup is straightforward, and the ALORAIR is performing very well so far. It is also relatively quiet, which is great. I am very happy with it.
Trying to keep my tool dry.

So I have a 1700 square foot shop that is, to put it nicely, not well sealed. There s actually a couple small leaks in the roof. So, during the Fall and Winter I have had problems with pretty much every rustable metal surface in my shop rusting, much to my frustration. So when this dehumidifier became available, I figured I would give it a chance. Now it is only rated for 1000 square feet, but that is more than the area I am really concerned about keeping more dry, so I should be fairly good to go. What I have ended up doing is creating a cradle to hang it just over my head out of the way (using sewn cargo webbing; it is not going anywhere), and the drain hose exits the shop through a hole in the wall that used to be for a water faucet.I first turned it on on a dreary, cool day and the humidity in my tool corner was 66%! I set it to 40% (metal shops recommend 30 to 50%). When I game back the next day, it was hanging around 45% and the shop felt noticeably drier. So hopefully it will survive a good long time out here, but we will find out.I want to put this on a smart plug or a Killawatt so I can see what kind of duty cycle it is running as well as energy consumption. But so far, it is working great and removing a lot of water. The hose, on cool days, drips consistently.
Good manual and company website

This dehumidifier is great, and I agree with other reviewers: it is quiet and efficient. We really appreciated the clear, easy-to-use manual. I also checked out the company website, which is full of useful information. Their East Coast headquarters is in my home state of North Carolina, and I was happy to see transparency and information about where they operate and where their products are made. This is all important because they offer a 5-year warranty on this commercial dehumidifier, and I wanted to make sure I could get help/support if I needed it. Our use case was a basement/garage. It was completely open with no partitions between the work area and the garage, but we had to install a wall to bring it up to code. This reduced airflow to the back of the work area, where there was already a wall that had some moisture seepage. Although there is a sump pump and vapor barrier, we always run the dehumidifier in the summer because we have so much humidity in there. We have used many dehumidifiers over the years, and we are excited to finally have a commercial-grade one. We use a pump-to-drain because we drained from an old sink that came with the house when we bought it. Other things to note: This machine has touchscreen controls, and it seems to work well, although I know some people don t like touchscreens on appliances. It does not have an internal water storage tank like a home dehumidifier, so even for testing you had to connect a drain hose - even if it was just to a bucket. This is clearly stated on the product listing, but it is still worth noting if you need a machine that can store water and automatically shut off when the tank is full. You can not adjust the fan speed like many non-commercial machines, so if you use this machine in your living room, you won not be able to reduce the noise for better sleep. It is not loud, but it can be a bit noisy in a quiet room. The filter can be washed, but according to the company, it needs to be replaced after two washes. The website also has filters for this model.
