E1 error code on HD55s

Back to List

Hi - I am getting an occassional E1 error code on HD55s which is not quite 2 years old.  It is in an encapdulated crawlspace and I am using the remote control unit which runs to the finished side of basement via the ethernet cable connection.  The remote control unit's screen is very faded and doesn't show the same temp/humidity which the unit's screen shows, and neither temp/humidity reeading is accurate when compared to the other sensors I have installed in the crawlspace.  When the dehumidifier cycles on, it makes a kind of lugging sound like it is having to work very hard and the compressor (?) seems to turn over very slowly.

Dear Christopher,
We apologize for the inconvenience you are experiencing with your Alorair HD55s dehumidifier. We understand that you are encountering an occasional E1 error code, and we appreciate the detailed description of the issue, and we’re here to help resolve it.

About the E1 Error Code
The E1 code typically indicates a humidity sensor issues. Given that the remote control display is faded and shows inconsistent readings, this further suggests a potential sensor or wiring problem.

Recommended Steps
1. Check Connections
   - Ensure the Ethernet cable connecting the remote control unit is securely plugged in at both ends. If possible, try a different cable to rule out connection issues.

2. Reset the Unit
   - Turn off the dehumidifier, unplug it for 5 minutes, then restart it. This may resolve temporary glitches.

3. Inspect for Obstructions
   - The "lugging" sound and slow compressor operation could indicate restricted airflow or a dirty filter. Please check the air intake and filter, cleaning or replacing them if necessary.

4. Compare Sensor Accuracy
   - Since other sensors in the crawlspace show different readings, the unit’s sensors may need recalibration or replacement.

5. Professional Assistance: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it would be best to contact our customer support team or a professional technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose the problem more accurately and provide the necessary repairs or replacements.
