There are still 820 million people on our planet facing hunger, roughly equivalent to one in nine people. According to the international relief agency Mercy Corps, about 9 million people die of hunger every year. This exceeds the total number of deaths due to AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis. Among them, there are more than 3 million children, which means that on average, one child will die of hunger every 10 seconds.
What did AlorAir do?
When a member of my team went to San Pedro in Laguna, Philippines, they accidentally saw something sad. I found that the children in some parts of the area often don’t have good food. Can you imagine what the children eat in the slums of the Philippines? Junk meat. The meat and bones are picked up from the trash that the scraps left by the rich, are eaten after reheating. After I returned to AlorAir’s US headquarters, I told my colleagues about this matter, and everyone agreed that we need to do something within our capacity.
As a result, AlorAir provided delicious food to 67 slum children in Mahalina Street and 115 slum children in Sitio Masayahin. And every month, our AlorAir headquarters in the United States will donate money to the children in these slums. Not for others, just to protect their smiles.
