How to remove rust from cool and heat exchanger?

Back to List

Bought my HD55 from Amazon 5/9/2021. Works great. I nopticed, when changing the filter, that there is rust on the exchanger. Is there a way to  remove rust from cool and heat exchanger?

Dear Douglas,
Thank you for choosing Alorair's HD55, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused by the rust you've noticed on the heat exchanger. Rust can be a common issue in such units, but rest assured, there are several methods you can try to remove it safely and effectively.
For chemical removal, you can use vinegar, lemon juice, or specialized rust removers. To use vinegar, pour it into a spray bottle and spray it evenly on the rusty areas, letting it react for 15-30 minutes before wiping with a soft cloth, rinsing with clean water, and drying thoroughly. Lemon juice can be applied directly to the rust and left to sit before wiping and rinsing. For specialized rust removers, follow the product instructions carefully, taking precautions to avoid contact with skin and eyes, and ensure thorough rinsing and drying after use.
Physical methods include using a wire brush or sandpaper. Start with a coarser brush or sandpaper to remove most of the rust, then switch to a finer one for smoothing. Please be gentle to avoid damaging the heat exchanger.
Remember to take safety precautions, such as wearing gloves and protective eyewear, and ensure the unit is powered off before starting any rust removal process. If the rust is extensive, or you are unsure about performing these tasks, we recommend consulting with a professional to avoid causing damage to the unit.
Our development team is continually working to improve the durability of our products. Should you have any further questions or require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service team for support or professional maintenance.
Best regards,
The Alorair Team
